This year, Apex High School held their prom on Friday, May 12th at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel. The dance went from 8:00 – 12:00, and the theme for this year was “A Night on the Boardwalk.” The theme was executed with carnival decor, carnival-themed stations, a few games, carnival foods (i.e. funnel cake, cotton candy, etc), and tickets strewn about the tables. The execution was well received and has been widely praised by students. 

As the night came to a close, the Prom Court winners were announced, with the titles of the court Princess and Prince being given to Franchesca Money and Holden Murphey respectively, and court Queen and King being given to Rachel Broza and Glenn lee. 

Junior Addi Styers comments, “It was so much fun! My favorite part was pictures and dinner, but the actual prom was super hot. The dancing was fun, and I enjoyed the saltwater taffies that were everywhere.” On the other hand , Chloe Andrews adds, “I wasn’t on the dance floor because it was kind of awkward. I wanted to, but it felt like just being kind of shoved around.”The dance floor remained active until the end of the night, even with a slow song interlude after the court announcements.  “I had a lot of fun for sure, but I spent a lot of time sitting because of the heat,” notes junior Shams Sodeq.

Overall, Prom Night 2023 was a big success. Until next year!
