One in eight Americans consume pizza every day. 350 slices of pizzas are eaten every second in the U.S.. 251.7 million pounds of pepperoni is consumed every year in the U.S., just from pizza. The thing I am wondering is, what brand of pizza are people choosing to eat? What brand of pizza do people like the most? Two big names in the pizza business are Domino’s and Papa John’s. They are big competitors of each other and are usually very close in sales. But the question is, which business is doing better in terms of popular opinion and economically?

According to CNN, Domino’s is currently winning the “pizza war”. In 2008 and 2009 Domino’s was at a low point, but then the company started the “pizza turnaround” in 2010. They created deals that made them cheaper than other competitors, which resulted in them winning back their customers a subsequent jump in their stock. Unlike their competitors, Domino’s focuses on creating new technology and advertisements to connect with customers. Domino’s has made a huge comeback since 2009 and most likely will continue to succeed.

I created a poll on Instagram for Apex High School students asking, “Papa John’s or Domino’s?”. These are the results of the poll:

The polls show that, out of seventy-three Apex students, most prefer Domino’s. Papa John’s didn’t have as many favorable reports, from the students as Domino’s did. With opinions like, “Papa John’s has stale crust.” from junior Brenda Basweti and “Papa John’s cut work hours to avoid insurance, found guilty of wage theft, and raised pizza prices.” said junior Suvid Kakkar, it doesn’t seem like Papa John’s has a good reputation.

Domino’s has a better reputation, better stock prices, and is favored at Apex High. Do you agree with the majority vote? Will this article convince you to try a new pizza chain?
