Meet Officer Leggett!

Officer Irvin Leggett is the new school resource officer here at Apex and is a native of Raleigh.
Q:Why did you choose to become police officer?
A:Being a police officer is what I’ve always wanted to do as a career. I’ve been interested in serving as an officer for my entire life.
Q:What are your thoughts about Apex so far? How does Apex compare to other schools?
A:I like Apex so far. I have enjoyed my first two weeks here a lot, and I look forward to a great school year. Apex is a lot like other schools I’ve been in. The students are great, and there haven’t been many problems so far this school year.
Q:What were you like as a high school?
A:As a student I tended to keep things to myself. I wasn’t an athlete, musician, and definitely not a scholar. I had friends but really didn’t participate in many activities through school.
Q:What advice would you give students?
A:Have fun because these are some of the best times of your life, but make good choices at the same time.
Q:What are your hobbies?
A:I like watching movies, working out, and teaching martial arts. Those things take up most of my free time.
Q:If you weren’t a police officer, what would you be doing?
A:I have no idea. I’ve wanted to be a police officer all my life, and although it’s kind of scary to think about, I am very thankful it worked out.
Q:Who is or has been an inspiration to you?
A:My father mostly. Growing up and seeing my dad work hard and provide for our family really inspired me to work hard too.
Q:What has been the most memorable moment as an officer?
A:There hasn’t been one exact moment that was most moment, but serving in the SWAT team was my most memorable experience as an officer.
Q:What is something people don’t know about police officers?
A:We are regular people, just like everyone else.
