Mid-year Graduation
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 10 am., 28 seniors from Apex High School will graduate in a ceremony held in the auditorium. Many students opt for early graduation to get a head start on college, take a gap year, explore career opportunities, qualify for early graduate scholarships, enjoy increased flexibility, and more.
North Carolina requires a minimum of twenty-six course credits to graduate. These credits consist of English I through IV; NC Math I, II, III, and a fourth mathematics course aligned with the student’s post-high school plans; Three science courses, including Earth/Environmental Science, Biology, and a Physical Science course (Physics or Chemistry); Four social studies courses, including World History, Civics Literacy, American History, and Economics and Personal Finance; One health/physical education course, which includes CPR certification; Two elective credits from any combination of Career and Technical Education (CTE), Arts, or World Language; and Eight additional elective credits
Mid-Year Graduation is a lively and intimate event where families can cheer for their graduates, unlike the faster-paced ceremony at the convention center; this year’s celebration will feature Shiloah Paxton singing the National Anthem, a musical performance by Mary Martin and Hudson Magnani, and the possibility of honored guests such as the Mayor of Apex, the Area Superintendent, and board members in attendance, as in previous years.
In conclusion, if you have the credits and the urge to start your post-high school life early you may want to consider graduating mid-year. For those underclassmen interested in early graduation start planning now!
