Veterans Day

Veterans Day, a day dedicated to our veterans that have served within the United States military. A time for Americans to take a moment and properly give thanks and recognize the achievements of veterans who have served before and now. That is why every year we celebrate and honor veterans on November 11th.

The start of Veterans Day can be traced back to 1918 during the end of World War I, when many Americans and veterans looked back at the armistice that ended the war. However, as Americans we celebrate and congratulate not only the fallen soldiers, but alive ones for their service in protecting the interest of this country.

This year in Apex there will be a Veterans Day parade and ceremony held in Saunders St. and North Salem St. The event will take place from 8:00 Am to 11:00 Am, and the event will also feature a display. If you are interested, check out the Apex City website for additional information Veterans Day

Supporting veterans can be saying “Thanks for your service” or giving them a letter of appreciation. However, one way to increase your commitment to helping veterans is by volunteering at the American Legion Post 124, which makes an effort to help veterans within the Apex community by giving them social support and assisting in programs and events. You can contact them to volunteer at their website American Legion Post 124

Other ways to support veterans can come in showing respect to them, listening to their stories and experiences, showing an interest in what they have to say, and helping with small miniature tasks and errands to make their day go more smoothly.

For Apex High School, Veterans Day is not only about learning history, but to give a chance to honor those who have taken part in it. It’s also important to honor veterans not just on Veterans Day but every day, and every time you see them so you can show your respect towards them.
