Student Production of Cougar TV

At Apex High School we have great student media classes like Newspaper and Cougar TV. Both are run by the great Mrs. McGee and are based around students creating news sources that are open to the public. Many students have gone through both classes, one of them including sophomore Ella Ritter. Ella was interviewed about what goes into the student aspect of taking the Cougar TV Class and producing actual episodes.

Ella was asked how long a production of an episode takes and what goes into producing them. As the student producers, they have to film, edit, and create ideas for three segments, an intro, and outro. After their collective work is completed, it is sent to Mrs. McGee and administrators to review, like this article will be as well. The episodes are posted on Youtube and shown in the next Cougar Class.

The class is split into three teams that rotate between three stations. Producing the episode is only one of these three activities for the students. When they are not working on putting out actual CougarTV episodes, they are either doing reflections on podcasts and their latest work, same as Newspaper, or working on their own docuseries.

CougarTV is regarded as a fun class by many attendants of the class, much due to Mrs. McGee, who will be missed next year. Whoever becomes the new overseer of the class will be welcomed in by all students of both Newspaper and CougarTV.
