Let’s get ready to rumble!

March is the month that many basketball fans eagerly wait for… This is the month they are all able to come together and celebrate an event called “March Madness” to express their love, dedication, and support for basketball.

Coach Harold G. Olsen was a coach for the Ohio State men’s basketball team and is the creator of March Madness. It started as a small tournament and then turned into a huge deal in America. In the first NCAA tournament, Oregon beat Ohio for the title of the first NCAA champion in the year 1939. The NCAA is an intense, single-elimination competition that features a total of sixty-eight teams who are competing for the title of the “national champions”.

Only a total of sixteen teams make it past the first weekend, The second weekend narrows the field first to the “Elite Eight,” which is followed by the “Final Four”. The final weekend of this tournament mainly focuses on the four semi-finalist teams. Soon after the two semi-finalists move on to play in the national championship game.

One big thing fans from all over the country in the season of March Madness is the team brackets. Many basketball fans will create a team vs. team chart to show which teams will be the last ones standing. The thrill of making these charts and games has to be the highlight of the whole tournament. These charts 100% bring more people to watch the games to see if their prediction is correct!

March Madness, much like the Super Bowl, has become a recognizable event to those all over the globe. From the parties and the brackets, this has to be one of the most intense sporting functions for many basketball fans all over America.
