National Craft Month
March is known as the month of Saint Patrick’s to most, but to some, it is National Craft Month! Crafting was a big part of my life during the lockdown of 2020, and I want to pass it on to younger generations whose lives revolve around electronics. Being able to complete a craft or crafty activity is very rewarding and leaves you feeling accomplished.
One craft you can do to pass on a little positivity would be painting rocks and leaving them in your neighborhood or outside public facilities. You can look up rock painting ideas on Google or Pinterest and gain some inspiration! During the time of Covid, I personally would get rocks from my dad’s construction site, my neighborhood clubhouse, and nearby bodies of water. I would then bring them home to wash off any dirt and debris and get my paints ready and complete my creation. This spreads joy to people because finding a cute rock on a casual walk can lighten someone’s mood that given day.
Crafting is meant to be calming and relaxing. Studies have shown that learning a craft offers many benefits to the average mental health. Expressing one’s creativity provides stress relief and can lower blood pressure much like meditation does. Believe it or not, crafting can turn you into a better person with a positive mind. Making items for charity, such as blankets for premature babies or activity bags for the children of veterans, makes your efforts that much more valuable to ones in need. Think of a way you can craft and share some positivity today!
