Senior sign-off

As we start wrapping up the semester and finalizing our last pieces of work, I want to reflect on the articles I have written in my first course of newspaper and the activities included in this class. I feel an overall improvement in my start on articles in this class. I have enjoyed getting to know certain topics but also improving the skill of what I am determined to go into. Newspaper with Mrs. McGee has been very enjoyable for me this year, and I am glad I picked it as one of my top classes.

As a senior myself, I felt this class was the perfect choice if you want work that you will learn from but also you can work at your own pace. Every day we start with daily questions ranging from favorite food opinions to topics included in knowing ourselves. I thought it was neat to get to know everyone better this way.  I liked when Ms. Mcgee encouraged us more by choosing a random student, and it helped me when I didn’t want to raise my hand. I think everyone can agree that the fifteen minutes of free reading is a great way to relax. It’s gotten me even more into reading, which I include in my everyday life even outside of school. I think it would have been cool to incorporate our books in an article or a separate activity. Incorporating these fun and simple tasks in class feels so refreshing for seniors who especially at this time are stressed with final classes.

All students get to work on different topics they choose which I love! I ranged from topics such as holiday festivities to upcoming events in North Carolina such as the state fair. Mrs. McGee gave us a fair amount of time to complete our assignments and flexibility. I honestly wish I signed up for Newspaper years prior or even next semester because it was a great opportunity. I would suggest it to many other students at Apex High.

To end, I want to say thank you to Mrs. McGee for being a good teacher, and I appreciate the way the class is run. The second semester is going to be hard but bittersweet, knowing it’s the last semester of high school. As I am ready for the end, I definitely will miss it. If you’re a student of Apex High reading this, I would highly recommend signing up for one of Mrs. McGee’s classes in your next year of high school!
