What is the PTSA auction?
In February 2024, the AHS PTSA will be sponsoring a fundraising, on-line auction. This is the second year they have hosted this event. Last year’s auction was a tremendous success and proved to be the largest fundraising event for the year netting over $6,000 for the PTSA. There were over sixty items donated from merchants in the community.
The funds collected were used to support the PTSA’s mission to support students and their activities during the school year, including student recognition and teacher grants. There is a student recognition program to highlight academic achievements of students each semester as well as annual scholarships for students going on to college or secondary education. Grants to teachers are also given to enrich the high school experience of all students, which enhances learning and students’ sense of community. Fundraising also provides for quarterly appreciation events for AHS teachers and staff.
The funds raised from the annual auction also also support the PTSA’s new Bright Futures program. This program “offers students and their family’s education to build life skills, such as enhancing interviewing skills, as well as tutoring for college essays and other informational programs to enhance college admissions and life beyond AHS,” said Kay Campbell, coordinator for the annual PTSA silent auction and the Bright Fruture’s Program. The funds collected from the auction and other fundraising events ensure the PTSA mission and programs are supported.
To get ready for the 2024 auction, the PTSA has issued a “Call to Action” for all AHS families to donate items to the Auction which will be held in February. This year, the PTSA hopes to have items donated from the broader AHS community as well as merchants in Apex and Cary. The PTSA is hoping this year’s event will surpass what was done last year so it can continue to provide great programs for the students and teachers of AHS.
