Don’t Stop The Party With Pitbull
On Friday night of May 12th, while our upperclassmen were preparing for prom at Koka Booth, an entirely different event was about to take place. At 9:30 the show with over ten thousand people crowded the Koka Booth amphitheater began. As the sun set, modern country band Neon Union opened the concert with a quick playing of their hits as well as some event classics like Sweet Caroline. But after that, the real party began as the lights dimmed, and Pitbull came out. The moment he came on stage, it was all party until the concert was over at 11.
For the few who don’t know who Pitbull is, he’s a pop, hip hop, and EDM artist who has had countless hits over the past two decades. His songs include “Fireball”, “Don’t Stop the Party”, “Timber”, and “Feel This Moment.” This was his second time performing in North Carolina; he previously performed at Coastal Credit Union Park in Greensboro back in august 2022.
Pitbull opened his concert with a bang, starting with “Don’t Stop The Party” which had the crowd singing along with him. After this, he played several other hits like “Gasolina” and “Hotel Room Service.” Throughout the whole show, the crowd sang and jumped around to his music. After about an hour of performing, he had a quick intermission. After about five minutes he came back, and from there until the end of the show, he played hit after hit. The crowd was loving it, singing over him. But that was just Friday.
His show on Saturday was a whole different story; there were over twelve thousand people in Koka Booth there, and his show also went about a half an hour longer. He played several of his newer songs including “Jumpin’” and “I Feel Good.” Several members of the Carolina Hurricanes were present for his Saturday show.
Overall though the concert was a great experience for me, and if Pitbull is ever in Raleigh or in the area, I know I will definitely be going.
