Creating Your Summer Bucket List

By Amber Wilson and Sophia Volpe

The weather is heating up, and summer is right around the corner. That means that it is time to start making plans and carefully curating your summer bucket list.  It can often be tough to compile a list of inexpensive activities in the greater Apex area, so we’ve done the hard work for you!

Here are 10 fun and cheap activities to do this summer (or even during a long weekend):

  1. Check out the Living Conservatory at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences: Tuesday – Sunday 10:30 am-12:30 pm and 1:00-3:00 pm starting May 27.
  2. Peruse the Apex Farmer’s Market: every first and third Saturday of the month 9:00 am-12:00 pm at Beaver Creek Crossing.
  3. Attend Bands, Boats, and Bites at Bond Park in Cary: every first Friday of the month 5:00-9:00 pm.
  4. Visit Seaforth Beach at Jordan Lake.
  5. Check out the Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival: August 26-27.
  6. Visit the Raleigh Little Theatre Rose Garden.
  7. Attend a production of Sleeping Beauty from the Carolina Ballet at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium from May 18-21. High school students get in for free with proof of identification!
  8. Go paddle boating, ride a carousel, play on the playground, ride the train, and listen to music at Pullen Park.
  9. Visit the ParTee shack for some indoor mini-golf with a group of friends.
  10. Walk around Moore Square featuring an interactive water feature, a large event lawn, tons of shaded seating, and a cafe (Square Burger). Check out the history exhibit featuring the Square and the surrounding community. While there, browse the quaint selection of local goods and Moore Square souvenirs.

These are just a few ideas to kick-start your summer bucket list. As the days get longer, Legacy hopes everyone can take advantage of all these fun activities around the area!
