Prom 2023

By Amber Wilson
It’s May, which means it is time for one of the biggest events of the school year… Apex High School’s Prom! This year’s prom is on Friday, May 12 from 8 pm to midnight at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham.
The main planner for Apex’s Prom is culinary teacher Mrs. Hoskins. Mrs. Hoskins has been planning prom since 2011. This year’s theme is “A Night On The Boardwalk,” a whimsical take on the New Jersey boardwalk carnivals that are integral to American pop culture.
The Prom Committee is composed of seventeen students who have dedicated many hours in preparation for the prom with the help of Mrs. Hoskins. The committee is planning for 650-700 students to attend the event. The Sheraton Imperial will be catering all of the classic carnival favorites including but not limited to candy apples, cotton candy, french fries, and lemonade. All refreshments are included in the $75 ticket!
Prom Court will consist of twenty students, five in contention for each of the titles of King, Queen, Prince, and Princess. Juniors are eligible to run for Prom Prince or Princess, and Seniors for Prom King and Queen. Voting for Prom Court will be separated by grade level and occur in Cougar Class leading up to the event.
The Legacy staff is excited to see the Apex students showing off their best-dressed looks and having an evening of fun!
