As you probably know, Spirit Week and Homecoming is this week. We have the Homecoming dance and football game, as well as the parade in Downtown Apex. This week is one of the biggest and most exciting ones of the year. This article will explain everything you need to know about Homecoming Week.

First things first: Spirit Week. This year’s Spirit Week is short and will only be four days long since there is a teacher workday on Monday the 10th of October. Every year people go all out and dress to impress and just have a good time. The categories for the week are Tuesday, holiday/ celebrations; Wednesday, “On Wednesdays we wear pink”; Thursday, Character day; and last but not least Friday, Apex spirit (green, gold and black).  

Some ideas for these categories are wearing a witch hat and pumpkin basket for Halloween, a Santa hat for Christmas, or an Easter basket; those are just some ideas for holiday/celebration. Pink anything for “On Wednesdays we wear pink” includes pink shirt, pink pants, pink shoes, or pink socks; anything pink can work for this category. Character day is a tricky one, but Adam Sandler is an easy choice where  you could wear baggy shorts and a loose t-shirt. You could also wear a yellow plaid skirt and top for Cher from Clueless, or you could wear a white and black leather jacket, white t-shirt and jeans, for Ferris Bueller from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.  Apex spirit is an easy one; outfit options could be a green shirt and gold accents like  jewelry, sunglasses, or even hair accessories. You can create your own ideas and express yourself how you want to with Spirit Week, but these are just a few ideas.

Next is the pep rally Friday afternoon, the day of the Homecoming game, to get everyone excited for the game.  After school on Friday at 4:00pm, in downtown Apex, the parade takes place. This parade is huge for all of Apex, and many people go to watch. Most of the clubs have a float, and the Homecoming court makes an appearance as well.

The Homecoming game is the biggest game of the year; not only is it probably the most important for school spirit but also attendance-wise. The student section becomes full instantly with crowds of people jumping and cheering. The theme for the game is Apex spirit, so dress in gold, green and black.  Be there, or be ◼️!  Have fun celebrating this week, Cougars!
