Shakespeare in the Courtyard

By: Kate Sinodis and Rose Andrews
The Apex Peak Players are putting on a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the school courtyard on May 12th at 7pm and May 14th at 2pm and 7 pm.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays, and is a comedy. The play has been done many times and there have been many variations, with a lot of unique twists. This allows each production, including the one at Apex to be unique and entertaining for everyone.
The cast includes Joey Klieman as Theseus/Oberon, Ali Patalano as Puck, Aryana Figueroa as Hermia. Mathew Lyktey as Lysander, Preston Smith as Demetrius, Emily Hoder as Helena, Hunter Dennan as Nick Bottom, Ava Cobb as Hippolyta/Titania, Becca Rager as Egeus/Fairy Mama, and Andrew Morgan as Flute.
The play itself has many twists put in place by the Peak Players, and has many surprises in store for people who think they know the basic story. “The entire play is super fun and I especially love how we play around with the time period and setting- it’s not your normal Shakespeare play, I can promise you that!”, says Emily Hoder, playing Helena in the performance.
The Peak Players have already performed this play for Apex Middle School, as a way to get kids engaged in theater. Apex Middle does not currently have a theater department, so the performance is meant to act as an introduction to the drama department. It is also meant to be a recruitment opportunity, to get rising freshmen invested.
Be sure to come see the Peak Players put on their rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the Apex High School courtyard. Tickets must be purchased online beforehand at www.apexdrama.com, and remember to bring your own chair!
