New SRO Interview: Officer McDowell
You’ve read articles about new activities, teachers, clubs, and much more at Apex High School, but have you read an article about a School Resource Officer yet? Recently, former SRO JT Allen has left Apex High and moved over to the Criminal Investigations Unit. A new officer has joined us recently. His name is Officer McDowell. Read this article to learn more about our new SRO and his job.
Q: When did you start your job as an SRO here at Apex High School?
A: “I just moved to the SRO position at Apex High School on January 11, 2021.”
Q: Have you made any new friends through your position at Apex High?
Q: What is your favorite part about being a police officer?
A: “My favorite part about being a police officer is definitely interacting with the public and having a positive influence during such interactions.”
Q: What is your least favorite part about being a police officer?
A: “My least favorite part about being a police officer is people not having much patience with each other. If we take more time to listen, we would all be better off. We have two ears and one mouth for a reason.”
Q: What are some things you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: “I love to spend as much time as I can with my kids.”
Q: How has COVID-19 affected the way that you do your job?
A: “As a whole, we all have to take many more precautions than we did before.”
Q: So far, how are you liking your job at Apex High School?
A: “Unfortunately, I still have not been able to have the full SRO experience due to the Coronavirus.”
Q: Lastly, what is your favorite quote?
A: “Be still, listen more than you talk.”
Unfortunately, Officer McDowell hasn’t been able to see any of the students in person yet, but once students start going back into school, he’ll be able to get his full experience as an SRO at Apex High School.
