Apex High’s Newest Swim Coach

The Apex High swim team has been around for many years, and it has had many different coaches. Last year’s coach Kevin Maksinchuk retired from being Apex’s swim coach. This year one of our math teachers, Mrs. Trull, is the new swim coach. We are all very excited to have her as a coach this year, so I decided to interview her to get to know her better.
Q: Did you swim in highschool/college?
A: I swam in high school, and in college, I swam for club.
Q: What was your favorite event to swim?
A: Probably the 200 IM
Q: What is your favorite event to watch?
A: I like to watch butterfly, I think it is really pretty to watch, so probably the 100 fly.
Q: Have you ever coached before?
A: Yes, I coached volleyball last year. I coached the JV B team.
Q: Why did you decide to be a swim coach?
A: Apex needed a swim coach, and I knew how to swim.
Q: How do you feel about starting the new season?
A: I’m excited; I think the team has a lot of talent this year.
Q: How do you think Apex will do in their first meet?
A: We are going to win of course.
Q: What do you hope to achieve or teach as a swim coach?
A: To improve all of the swimmer’s stroke techniques and their times throughout the year and to have at least ten people go to states.
Q: What do you like about the team?
A: I love the community that they all have and how they all know each other; it is very encouraging. I also like how hard everyone works.
Q: What are you looking forward to most this year?
A: I’m looking forward to seeing everyone compete because I have seen everyone in practice, but I am looking forward to seeing what a swim meet is like.
Now that we know Coach Trull a little better, I think it is safe to say that this should be a good season for the swim team. Good luck to those swimmers swimming in their very first meet on Monday, November 25th! Come out and show your Cougars support next Monday at 7:00 P.M in the Triangle Aquatic Center!!
