Spring has sprung, and this means a new round of sports are in full swing. With the end of the year quickly approaching, spring athletics are almost halfway done. Here is an update on where our Cougars stand currently this spring season. The following information has been updated and collected by the Wake County athletics team.

Baseball

Varsity has had a total of nine wins and six losses this season. Senior Jacob Ford commented on their season, saying, “It’s going well so far. As the season has progressed, so has the team. We have had some great wins and some things that could use a little work. Minor setbacks bring major comebacks.” When asking him about the remaining time in the season, he said, “I hope as a team we can all contribute in our roles to help one another succeed and win some more games!” JV is currently 6-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Women’s Soccer

The women’s Cat Soccer season is off to a great start with seven wins, three losses, and one tie as they are currently second in their conference behind Fuquay-Varina.

Men’s Lacrosse

Varsity is currently 7-3 in their conference. In North Carolina, they are ranked number twelve. Senior Caleb Fisher is very hopeful for the rest of season, “Apex lacrosse has a history of getting better as the season progresses because the coaches never stop pushing, and the players never stop trying. Every day we get better, and it shows.” When asking how their win over Green Hope felt, Fisher said, “It has set the tone for the rest of the season; intensity. We will continue to work our hardest to bring home that championship title this year, and I fully expect to make it there.” JV is also on fire as they are currently undefeated.

Women’s Lacrosse

The ladies are currently undefeated in the conference with ten wins.

Softball

Varsity has an overall record of five wins and five losses. JV is currently 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
