Andia’s Homemade Ice Cream

Ice Cream Heaven. This is the best way to describe one of Cary’s newest ice cream shops that offers culinary creations beyond your greatest imagination. Entrepreneurs Andia and George Xouris, along with their children, run Andia’s Homemade Ice Cream, offering your traditional ice cream along with lactose-intolerant and vegan options, ice cream filled doughnuts, over-the-top sundaes, and much more. After catering for special events, they added a storefront to give customers access to their unique creations all year long. Once you walk into Andia’s, you immediately feel a sense of family, love, and history, along with the sweet smells of homemade ice cream. A whole wall in their shop is dedicated to outlining how they got to where they are today. It is evident that the Xouris family values their story, and it is a huge part of what makes their business so special.

The inspiration for Andia’s stems from their childhood memories. Andia and her family immigrated to America when she was young, and her father worked hard to build a successful business. As she watched him build up his business, she fell in love with the idea of entrepreneurship and decided to follow in those footsteps. As for George, his grandparents were heavily involved in his childhood, and he has fond memories with them enjoying ice cream. George graciously inherited what is named ‘The Heirloom Scoop’ from his grandfather, and it is proudly on display through their logo and in their shop. They launched their business as ‘The Freezing Pointe’ in 2014, but over the past year decided that ‘Andia’s’ was the best way to brand their business. Andia and George make each guest feel like they are part of the story, and that is part of what makes them stand out.

While their story is a true inspiration, the ice cream surpasses all expectations. Homemade in small batches, each flavor is fun and creative featuring options such as ‘Baklava,’ to highlight their Grecian roots, and ‘Blueberry Cobbler,’ an exciting twist on a classic American dessert. Even though their ice cream is incredible on its own, they take it further than most would even dream of. They are the only shop in the area that offers boxes of Cannolis filled with their ingenious Cannoli-Cream ice cream. They also sell ice cream cookie sandwiches and to-go containers of their best-selling flavors which are wonderful options to bring to a special event or get-together. A huge crowd-pleaser is the ice cream-filled doughnuts; the contrast of the warm, glazed doughnut with the frozen ice cream scoop melts in your mouth, and the chocolate caramel drizzle with a shake of sprinkles puts it over the top. If that is not enough, each month they have a new featured sundae representative of the season. For the rest of October, Andia’s is promoting ‘The Great Pumpkin Bowl,’ featuring a generous scoop of Pumpkin Spice ice cream served in a homemade chocolate cinnamon waffle bowl and topped with rich caramel sauce, pecan pralines, and a dollop of whipped cream. It’s okay to take a moment and let that sink in. If even that does not appeal to you, they have multiple other sundaes for sale all year long. Their ‘Trash Can’ sundae is also a crowd-favorite, featuring rock candy, gummy worms, and cookies and cream ice cream. No matter what your ice cream specialty is, Andia’s strives to provide each guest with something they can enjoy.

The combination of their family story with their exclusive ice cream creations makes it the perfect place to grab a scoop with your friends and family. Visit before Halloween so you can try their special sundae of the month! They open at noon each day, so if you are in second lunch and are looking for a sweet addition to your meal, stop by Andia’s! It is also the perfect place to enjoy some sugar after an early release. Thank you to Andia’s Homemade Ice Cream for sponsoring our Spirit Wear Competition for Peak Week 2017 and for collaborating with our media, marketing, and culinary teams to help further our education in those areas. Make sure you visit Andia’s and try their truly incredible ice cream; you will not regret it!
