Meet new counselor Ms. Byrd!
Ms.Byrd is a counselor, and she has all students with last names A-Da.
Q: Why did you become a teacher?
A: Well, it’s sort of a tradition in my family. My mother and brother are both teachers, and I decided to do something a little bit different by becoming a guidance counselor.
Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: Yes! I’m begging to play tennis. I also sew, read, and I love to go to the beach.
Q: Do you have a favorite movie or book?
A: It’s sort of an old one; but still one of my favorites it’s called The Shawshank Redemption. It’s always been one of my favorites.
Q:Do you have any pets?
A: I do not because I’m allergic…sadly.
Q:If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: Probably right now it would be California, just because I’ve never been there.
Q: who has been an inspiration to you and why?
A: I’d have to say my mother. She was a teacher for forty years, and she paved a way for all her children to be in public service.
Q: What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher and why?
A: I think it has to be every year at graduation. When I watch everybody graduate and walk across the stage and the memories of the years just goes by.
Q: If you weren’t teaching what would you be doing and why?
A: I’d probably be doing some kind of counseling because I do that here, and I would like to do something similar.
Q: What advice would give to students?
A: I would say try your best but also be kind to yourself.
Q: What are your thought on Apex so far? Your likes, dislikes and how does Apex compare to other schools?
A: So far I love Apex. It’s about half the size of my former school. That makes it really nice and comfortable, and my coworkers are wonderful, and all the students so far have been really easy to communicate with and polite and kind. I’ve just been very impressed.
