Artists at Apex!

Art is an outlet for people to express themselves. It helps people process and release emotions that others may not understand. It can also be a fun way to relax and take a break. Many students at Apex High School, including myself, love art and sharing it with others. Here are some student-artists and their creations:

Artist: Sally Lin
Grade: 12

Q1: What inspired you to start taking art more seriously?
A1: I’ve been interested in the arts since I was a little kid, but I took a long hiatus. It wasn’t until I took Visual Arts beginning my sophomore year that my passion for it reignited, as I was forced to experiment with many different mediums and realized I had more of a knack for it than I thought. Additionally, being surrounded by other like-minded, talented individuals inspired me to continue my pursuit of art.

Q2: What’s your favorite medium?
A2: My favorite 2D art medium would be acrylic paint, and my favorite 3D art medium would be clay.

Artist: Ishita Sahu
Grade: 12

Q1: What inspired you to start taking art more seriously?
A1: Studio Ghibli got me into art. I found the art just magical and the overall process very inspiring! I don’t animate, and my style isn’t similar to it, but it’s what got me more invested in art in middle school

Q2: What’s your favorite medium?
A2: Currently, most of my art is digital, and I’m trying to learn how to animate, but for traditional art, my favorite is simple graphite on paper!

Artist: Rachel Anderson
Grade: 12

Q1: What inspired you to start taking art more seriously?
A1: I’m not really serious about art, honestly, I just do it for fun, and it works with my field since I want to be a landscape architect.

Q2: What’s your favorite medium?
A2: Oil is my favorite medium!

I myself am an artist, and I’ve been interested in art since I was a kid, but I started taking it more seriously in 2020. I love using acrylic paints and working digitally! Art overall has improved my life, and many others can say the same. Anyone can be an artist!
