Try Watching or Playing Football!
Everyone has favorite activities that they all enjoy. It can be art, or maybe making music, or playing a game. We all have our respective favorite activities that we love to do, but I am here to tell you that you should definitely try playing, or even watching, America’s favorite sport; football.
I myself enjoy playing quarterback, the guy who runs the field, and hands it off to the running back or passes to the receivers. That is the beauty of football, the amount of positions you can be talented at, and how they all come together to form a team. You don’t have to be like me, though, you could be the running back, who takes the handoff from the quarterback, and runs swiftly through the defense to score the touchdown. You could also try out your catching skills, by playing wide receiver, who leaps up into the air to catch the ball and run it into the endzone. If you can’t do those 3, maybe you should try defense! Linebackers and cornerbacks are the people who guard the receivers and running backs, doing anything to prevent the touchdown. And if all else fails, you could even try being a kicker, like my brother, who kicks the ball into the uprights for a field goal. It is a position that doesn’t get enough praise, because in a tie game situation with time running out, a kicker can step up to win the game for their team.
There are other ways to enjoy this legendary and historic sport, and you guessed it, watching it on TV! Or even better, in person. I myself have been to many college football games, and 2 NFL games. The atmosphere and the way you can watch the players in person is so much more fun and exciting than on TV, but then again, watching football on TV is still very fun. I love going to my favorite college football team, NC State, as they take the field, the band playing the fight song, and every fan cheering for the players. When we score a touchdown, everyone gets on their feet and cheers and yells, and the stadium erupts with loud fans. I also love heading up to West Virginia, where my brother plays. It is the exact same up there, so many loud fans, electric plays, and the whole thing of watching football in the stadium is surreal. There is no atmosphere like a college football game. The way the fans have their own cheers and traditions is simply amazing. But don’t forget about our very own Friday Night Lights, where our Cougar football team takes on the field. So why don’t you come down every Friday night with your friends and join the Cougar Crazies, and hang out and cheer our Cougars as they take on the field?
If you get lucky enough, you get to see the professionals in the NFL. I’ll never forget the day I headed up to Orchard Park with my family to watch my favorite team, the Buffalo Bills, take on the Carolina Panthers. I got to see my favorite quarterback, Josh Allen. Every touchdown was a stunning display of how different college football and NFL football is played. The amount of accuracy from the quarterback, or speed from the running back, or an insane jumping catch from the receiver shows how good these guys are and better yet, how fun it was to watch! But because we can’t see every game, me and my dad sit in the living room to watch our favorite sport every Monday, Thursday, and Sunday night. We love to watch the superstars making plays, like a one-handed catch, or a 60 yard throw from a strong quarterback, the whole sport never gets boring to watch.
Now I know that you have your own favorite activities to do, but I really do think that you would tack on one more if you started to play or watch football. It is just so much fun to watch, whether you are in the stadium or watching on TV, hanging out with friends and family, and cheering for your favorite team. Everything about it is so much fun, and I hope that I have convinced you to try it out. So whether you are out there making the big plays yourself, or watching from home, you will quickly learn that when I said that the sport of football never gets boring, I meant it.
