Childhood television shows hold a special place in the hearts of many by entertaining them during their many years of childhood. Most people growing up had a show that they would always go back to rewatch, whether it is Nickelodeon, Disney, or on Cartoon Network. People form attachments to shows that they enjoyed as kids, and it impacted them in many different ways. In this article, I’m going around Apex High School to ask students about their favorite childhood shows and why they still enjoy them today!

Peter Cirioli: “Gumball, and I still go back to that show. I think it’s still a really funny show.” 

Max: “I watched a lot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles growing up, but I don’t really go back to it anymore.” 

Eli Ooka: “Both Spongebob and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I still go back to them because of nostalgia and because they are really good shows.”

Mr. Ferguson: “Ed, Edd n Eddy, I still revisit it today. I go back to it because it is really humorous and it’s a nice show to watch for nostalgia. It gives a good look at how humor was at the time.” 

Kai Schnetzer-Wiederhold: “Tom and Jerry, every now and then I go back to it. A lot of the clips are really entertaining to me.”

Stacy Madison: “Spongebob, and of course I go back to it. It brings me to a place of joy when I watch it.”

Darnell: “Gumball, it’s so good. I always go back to it.”

Kalib d’Erizans: “For me it’s Gumball. It’s a hilarious show that still gets a laugh out of me everytime I watch it.”

Maggie McCoy: “Phineas and Ferb, I watched it a couple years ago. I find it so funny.”

Kaleb McAllister: ¨DBZ (Dragon Ball Z), I go back to it because the fights are really entertaining.¨

Most people have shows that they were deeply attached to when they were younger. Not everyone goes back on the shows they watch and enjoys them the same way, but there are a lot of outliers whenever it comes to children’s programming. A lot of people most commonly were enjoying a lot of these shows primarily because of the comedy. Since these shows were beloved because of the writing a lot of people go back and still enjoy them to this day. People enjoy revisiting things from their childhood because of found memories of the past and it is something that makes people happy. These shows are lighthearted and fun so a lot of people enjoy coming back to them because of that. Even after many years it is  always a fun time to explore the media of the past and take a look at what you enjoyed as a kid. It gives a good look on how you were whenever you were younger and draws parallels to yourself in the current day.
