How Apex High School Celebrates Halloween
As per tradition, every year on October 31st, people all around the world dress up and go out. Whether you plan to go trick or treating, trunk or treating, or just to a Halloween party, people of all ages have their own way to enjoy this holiday. More specifically, when it comes to trick or treating, people find fun things to dress up as when they go out for candy. I wanted to go around and ask students what they were dressing up as this year. Here are some of the responses from Apex High.
Starting off, as expected many of the responses featured classic Halloween costumes that aren’t linked to any specific franchises—just the usual, timeless options that make sense for the occasion. These included:
- Vampires
- Ghosts
- Frankenstein
- Bride of Frankenstein
- Zombies
However, the responses weren’t confined to the usual classic costumes. Many people opted for more modern, pop culture-inspired outfits, with inspiration from movies, or shows. Here are more responses:
- Deadpool + Wolverine
- Shrek + Donkey
- Red Hood
- Mystery Inc. (Scooby Doo)
- Yoda (& other Star Wars Characters)
Even though these costumes are quite different from one another, one thing that unites everyone is just the spirit of celebrating Halloween. As mentioned earlier, people embrace and enjoy the season in their own unique ways. So I wanted to ask one of the students, Kyle Sackaroff, some questions just to see what people are doing.
What are you dressing up as for Halloween?
“I don’t know yet, which is concerning because Halloween is in a couple of weeks. I have a lot of ideas but right now I just don’t know yet.”
How are you going to celebrate?
“I have some plans like a sort of party thing later on but I’m still just kinda figuring the rest of this month out. I might go trick or treating or just hand out candy too.”
What’s your favorite activity for autumn in general?
“I like going to those haunted house things that have people jump out and try to scare you, but getting a bunch of friends together and doing something random is usually fun too. Final answer: haunted houses for sure.”
As Halloween approaches, it’s clear that whether students are going for classic costumes or embracing the latest trends, the excitement is all around. From trick or treating to spooky parties, everyone has their own way of celebrating. But no matter how different our plans could be, Halloween should be a time for fun for everyone to together to enjoy the season. So, whatever you’re doing this year, make sure to make it a night to remember.
