National Art Honors Society at Apex

The National Arts Honor Society (NAHS) plays a vital role in high schools by promoting artistic excellence and community engagement. Membership offers students unique benefits, including leadership opportunities, scholarships, and the chance to showcase their work. NAHS members participate in community service projects, such as organizing art shows, workshops, and outreach programs, which foster creativity and appreciation for the arts in local communities. By delving into these initiatives, students not only enhance their artistic skills but also build lasting connections and inspire others to appreciate the ultimate value of art in society.

NAHS is making waves in our community by fostering a love for the arts and engaging students in meaningful projects. The past couple of years, the NAHS chapter at Apex decorated it’s community by painting the windows of Downtown Apex for Christmas Time. Members of Apex NAHS came together to paint a mural on the wall to advertise the clubs at Apex High School.

Additionally, NAHS often collaborates with local schools, libraries, and community centers to run workshops and classes. This past year, NAHS held a “Bob Ross Workshop” where students gathered after school in one of the art classrooms and followed along with a Bob Ross video, learning his techniques together. It creates a cozy and accepting environment for seasoned or amateur artists to create artworks as a group. These programs provide opportunities for younger students and community members to learn various artistic skills, fostering creativity and self-expression. By sharing their skills, NAHS members inspire others and cultivate a love for the arts within the community.

Apex NAHS is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where members can explore their artistic potential. During the club’s frequent meetings they discuss artistic opportunities to earn credits within the club as well as contribute to the local art scene in their community. Competitions are also occasionally held at club meetings, such as a pumpkin carving contest around Halloween time.

Moreover, the chapter organizes annual art showcases, giving students a platform to display their work to the community. These events not only celebrate the talent within the school but also emphasize the importance of art as a form of expression and connection. By inviting local artists to participate, NAHS fosters an inclusive atmosphere where creativity thrives, demonstrating the ultimate impact art can have in uniting diverse voices and perspectives in the community.
