How students at Apex High School set up their sleep schedule
Struggling to find the perfect sleep schedule? You’re not alone. Many students at Apex High School face the same challenges. For some students today, it isn’t easy to maintain a sleep schedule or find one that works for them. Sleeping is a necessity that all living beings need to survive. I interviewed students who shared their strategies from Apex High School to find out what techniques they use and how they set their sleep schedule to be successful.
All the interviewed students say they make an effort to get at least eight hours of sleep. They all acknowledge that the pandemic disrupted their sleep routines making it difficult for them to adopt a sleep schedule due to staying up later than usual and being in front of a screen almost all day. Still, now they are here today able to offer valuable advice to fellow students who are struggling with sleep.
Jared suggested getting tired before going to bed. He says he exercises before going to bed so he’s tired during the night time.
Another classmate, Alice, mentioned taking melatonin to help with sleep. It plays a role in promoting a natural hormone in your body that makes you tired in the dark signaling it’s time to sleep, boosting that effect to help you fall asleep.
Arturo mentioned that he refrains from electronic devices. He doesn’t use electronic devices for thirty or forty minutes before bed to help him unwind and clear his mind by getting lost in his thoughts.
Another suggestion came from a student named Eri. He reads at least two chapters of a book before going to bed and contributes positively to his sleep routine.
Additionally, a student named Ramir shared advice from his father who was in the army and taught him a breathing technique to help him sleep better. Explaining that he breathes in for four seconds then holds it for seven seconds then exhales for eight seconds also saying it’s uncomfortable at first but the body quickly adapts.
Lastly, Bryan recommended taking a hot shower to help him fall asleep faster. On days he doesn’t shower he tends to stay up on his phone till his eyes strain and get tired. I suggested this article to him, hoping it would be beneficial in helping him get better sleep.
Hopefully, this article helps numerous students at Apex High School to improve their sleep patterns and reduce the time spent sleeping in school. This article has many various strategies for students to be successful in getting eight hours of rest. Remember it’s never too late to adjust your sleep routine.
Thank you to all the people who let me interview them.
