Summertime Job Ideas

Are you interested in getting a job this summer? Sometimes, it can be hard to find a job, especially one that suits your interests. That’s why I decided to write this article to help you figure out a place that will hopefully be an excellent fit for you. It’s a good idea to get a job in the summer as studies have shown that it helps teens become more independent, both financially and in other ways. It’s also a great way to make money and be productive!

One great summer job many teens at Apex have had is being a lifeguard. You can apply for this job anywhere, from neighborhood pools to health and fitness club pools. The process can look different since there are so many places you can lifeguard, but two things you definitely need are to be CPR certified and have a lifeguard certification. Maggie, a junior at Apex, lifeguarded at Lifetime Fitness and  said, ¨I enjoyed lifeguarding as it helped me meet many new people; also, it’s a life-saving job that allows you to work with kids. My coworkers were very lovely, and I got paid reasonably well.¨ Lifeguarding can help you develop leadership skills and become more responsible. This job can also help you stay outside in the summer and get sun! I definitely recommend this job to anyone who is looking for a summertime job.

If you are very good at working with kids, you should be a summer camp counselor. Many teens at Apex have done this job, and I have only heard good reviews. Last summer, I was a counselor at New Life Camp. I enjoyed this job as it really helped me gain responsibility and get close to all the campers. There are many summer camps in our area, ranging from outdoor camps to art camps. Also, if you play a sport, there are many sports camps where you can sign up to help. This job can help you get a lot of community service hours and also looks great on resumes and college applications. Sofia Barton, a sophomore, was a camp counselor last summer and said, ¨I loved this job as it helped me take a break from my phone for a week and spend time outdoors. It also taught me communication and responsibility skills. I loved getting close to the campers and the staff there!¨ I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a job that involves working with kids and doing a range of activities.

If you enjoy the outdoors, lawn care can be a great job for you. The exciting thing about this job is that you can do it all on your own, which means making your own pay and also your own choice of hours. One great way you can do this is by creating flyers and putting them around your neighborhood. Also, if your neighborhood has a communication app or website, you can share your business and details. This is a great way to stay productive and outdoors in the summer. Lawn care can come in many different ways; some things you can do is mow people’s lawns, take care of their plants and flowers, pull weeds out of their yard, help them move stuff, and much more! This is also a great way to get yourself out there and meet new people around your area! Tas Clayton, a sophomore at Apex, said, ¨Last summer, I got lots of money by helping around my neighborhood. I live in a big neighborhood with many different people, so this job really helped me to meet new people. I helped people with their lawns and any other help they needed. This also helped me stay productive and earn money¨ So, if you’re not scared to get your hands a little dirty and love the outdoors, this job would definitely be a great fit for you!

Even though having a job can sometimes be tiring and boring, you can make it fun if you choose one that involves your interests and talents. Having a job as a teenager can really be beneficial as it can help you learn skills that you will need one day while working a full-time job. Having a job can also help you be a part of your community and give you something to do productively instead of just scrolling through your phone or sleeping in. Also, all of these jobs can be part-time, which will still allow you to play sports, hang out with friends and families, or do any activities you are involved in. I hope that reading this informed you of all the reasons having a job can benefit you and some ideas for summertime jobs!
