Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Saving the environment should be important to everyone because it helps to preserve the planet that was given to us. There are simply no downsides to using the three R’s. Some of the main benefits are saving energy and money, reducing pollution, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and saving natural resources by extracting fewer raw materials from the earth.

First of all, you should always reduce your carbon footprint before anything. Reducing things like waste and harmful gasses go such a long way. If you only reuse and recycle you are not getting rid of this modern problem, you are only decreasing the harmful effect. Minimizing the amount of waste we produce, reducing certain products as much as we can, and remembering to always reduce before resulting in alternatives are good options for helping the environment..

Reusing is always another way of cutting down on all of these harmful environmental effects because you are repurposing. You can reuse items for their intended purpose or something completely different, which cuts down so much. Instead of throwing away every paper plate you use, start using washable plates that you can clean and wash after every use and don’t have to waste and throw away.

Recycling should be your last resort when it comes to the three R’s. Even though you break down the materials so that they can be repurposed, not everything in recyclable items can be broken down, so you are still creating waste. You can recycle by first, buying recyclable items and designating a bin in your house for those items when you are finished with them. Creating new products is great but being able to cut down is even better. Do what you can to help your community be safe and the environment clean!
