Religious Clubs of Apex High
There are many religion-based clubs here at Apex. Here’s a deeper look into a few of them.
First we have Apex Young Life. Young Life is a national organization meant to spread Christianity and talk about Jesus. Young Life is not directly affiliated with Apex, but each school in Western Wake County has a designated group for it. It is held every Monday and Thursday at 7:27 P.M. at the chosen place for that night. Mondays is Club, which is more game- focused with a story from the Bible at the end. Thursdays, on the other hand, are more focused on Bible study. Attendance is not mandatory, but anyone is welcome to come and learn with them..
Another club is the Muslim Student Association. I was able to talk with the co-president, Jana Sulaiman (‘25), and here’s what she said: “The purpose of the Muslim Student Association is to give Muslim students a place where they feel a sense of belonging and safety. It is a club where Muslims can meet fellow students and make friends who share the same morals and beliefs as them.” Why did she decide to join this club? “I decided to join this club during my freshman year because my siblings had been part of it in previous years and they made new friends and had great experiences in the club. My favorite part of the club is the friends that I have made from joining. I met one of my best friends through MSA, and now we are co-presidents of it together”. Meetings are held every Friday after school in room 3411, and they hold out of school events too.
I also had the opportunity to talk to one of the co-presidents of Apex For Christ (AFC). Allison Hurley (‘24) stated, “Our focus is to bring together the students of Apex in fellowship, to encourage them to lead a Christ-centered life, and form connections with God and the community; we use the Bible as a basis for our devotionals and teachings. (This is our club mission statement).” She also said “I joined Fellowship of Christian Athletes
(FCA) my freshman year because I saw it as a way to grow my faith and make new friends. After serving as a leader in my junior year, our executive board decided to part ways with FCA and become our independent Christian club Apex for Christ. My favorite part of AFC is having a community of peers and being able to grow spiritually alongside them.” Meetings for AFC are held in the Aux gym every Wednesday morning before school, from 6:45AM to 7:10AM.
All of these clubs here at Apex are welcoming and would love more people to join. If you are interested in joining, check out the Apex ICC (Inter Club Council) section on the Apex High homepage.
