Apex FBLA – Gearing up for the State Leadership Conference
From March 21st to March 23rd, many students (including our own Apex High students) will be partaking in the world’s largest business career and technical student organization’s state leadership conference (SLC). This three-day event is filled with fun and informative content that will help to nurture the next generation of business leaders. With the SLC having a lot to offer, attendees of the conference will have the time of their lives and the opportunity to expand their horizons. Understanding the many benefits that the SLC provides can open your eyes to how impactful Future Business Leaders of America can truly be in one’s school experience.
Networking
Students will have the opportunity to network with students from other FBLA school chapters throughout the conference. For example, the SLC dance provides a great way for students to mingle. In addition, members will have the chance to create relationships with business experts and even businesses themselves. The SLC allows students to build strong connections and long-lasting friendships important in the corporate world.
Competitive Events & Recognition Testing
The FBLA SLC provides a podium for members to compete in competitive events and recognition testing. There are over fifty events that members can choose to compete in, which encompass many different career fields. These competitive events can be categorized into three categories: testing, presentation, and roleplay. Alongside a competitive event, students are given the chance to take recognition tests at the conference, which can cover anything from social media to business concepts, computer science to project management, etc. These tests examine members’ general knowledge on business-related concepts. Students can look forward to stepping up on the stage and being recognized if they place top ten in their event category/recognition test!
Workshops
Through workshops, attendees will have the ability to enhance their business skills. These workshops can range from public speaking, leadership skills, finance, and more. The workshops involve interactive and hands-on activities that pique students’ interests and help them grow their knowledge.
Mr Tullis, the Apex High FBLA chapter adviser, shares his enthusiasm about the FBLA SLC: “The opportunities gained are endless. Students will take away countless networking opportunities. Students engage with fellow students, business professionals, partners, and other FBLA delegates. Students also gain rigorous and relevant core essentials to business at an SLC conference. They also take away a learning environment that is conducive to the business world and many takeaways that come with the experience.”
The many career exploration opportunities at the FBLA SLC give students amazing exposure to the business world. Students are given a platform to unlock their potential, flourish into future business leaders, and take their next steps into the real world.
