Now Showing: 9 to 5

The Apex Peak Players are proud to present the Dolly Parton-inspired musical 9 to 5! After several months of hard work and extensive practice, the production is ready to hit the stage. It is a story of three secretaries working in an office in the ‘70s and overcoming the many challenges that life throws at them. Packed with a wide variety of songs, choreography, and emotional scenes full of both drama and great laughs, watching it is sure to be worthwhile. Students were able to enjoy a preview of the show on Wednesday, and it will be showing from Thursday to Saturday.

After interviewing Austin Russ, an ensemble member in the musical, he gave some insight into his experiences while working on 9 to 5. He stated that his favorite memory while working with the Peak Players was rehearsing “One of the Boys,” his favorite dance number. However, he found it challenging to accurately embody a character from the time period 9 to 5 is set in, which is the 1970s through the 1980s. A specific fact he wishes viewers don’t miss is all the time and effort the stage technicians have put into the set. He notes the details in the props, set pieces, costumes, and backgrounds and how detailed the technicians have made them. It has improved the quality of the set even more, and he hopes the audience will agree! He believes a fan-favorite song will be “Heart to Hart” or “One of the Boys,” choreographed by Ms. Brady and the student choreographers. According to him though, the choreography for the entire production is amazing. Overall, he would say that his experience working on 9 to 5 is one he’ll never forget because of all the effort, love, and passion that’s gone into crafting an amazing show. He says that seeing the production come together is such a rewarding experience, and he hopes everyone will enjoy it.

The Peak Players hope this inspires people to come out and watch the musical for themselves. Look forward to seeing them perform 9 to 5 on stage in the auditorium! It runs from 7:00 to 9:30 Thursday through Saturday. You won’t want to miss it!
