Misinformation and the Media Bias

With an upcoming presidential election, it is more important than ever to understand the weight of misinformation put out there and the biases that news companies can have. In years past, election time has been prime for fake articles and wrong information and statistics to run rampant. With the right facts being so important, as a reader you should make sure that you are getting the truth.

Media bias should always be looked at when it comes to looking at articles surrounding campaigns and candidates for election. There is a media bias chart that is always good to reference, and it is updated around every three months. While bias may not be untruthful, often the truth is stretched, or allusions are made that are misleading. Very biased publications are not to be fully trusted when it comes to excess information to know.

“Fake News” is a phrase often thrown around as well, and while it may seem ridiculous, it’s not fully incorrect. Misinformation often spreads faster than the truth, and with the internet, it can be spread even faster. Making sure to check multiple sources and doing your own research may be a hassle but not one that isn’t worthy. It’s a big decision coming up, and everyone just wants to make the right one.
