Five Video Games For You

These are five indie games that might be perfect for you. Indie games are video games that were made by small companies or single persons. These five games are praised highly and for a good reason. We recommend you try these games out and give them a chance; you may like them!

Slime Rancher is a single-player farmer game where you collect different slimes and grow your very own ranch on an alien planet. The graphics are cartoony and soft on the eyes, and the soundtrack is peaceful and fun. There is a story, but the game is not solely focused on it. The story is about a person named Bea moving onto a new farm to make money. It’s a cutesy farming game that might be your perfect escape.

Lethal Company is a single-player or a multiplayer survival horror game. The story is minimal, and the game play isn’t insanely complicated. Without mods, modifications that are player-created and aren’t official, a maximum of four  people can play in a single lobby. The game is commonly played as a multiplayer game as playing with friends turns the horror into hilarity. Trying to survive an unsurvivable situation with friends may be your way to play.

Celeste is a story-focused platforming game. It has a pixelated art style with digital art; the soundtrack is also what it is mostly known for. The story is riddled with metaphors and symbolism, mainly focused on the mental state of the main character Madeline. If a deep story and a beautiful soundtrack with simple gameplay is your jam, maybe check this out.

Killer Frequency is also a story focused game, though more focused on it than Celeste. It’s a murder mystery story with you playing a radio host. In a small town where your character is new, you have to use all the clues in your studio and your tech partner to help those who call into the show. The story is well-written along with the characters, and the puzzles are challenging enough to not take away from the story but only if you can read a map. If you like mysteries and humor, you’ll love this game!

Rhythm Doctor is, obviously, a rhythm game with a little bit of story. The mechanics are unique where you have to use a heart beat monitor to hit the notes. The music is good and tells the stories of the patients you save by successfully completing a level. The graphics are pixelated, and the colors and sound effects are satisfying . Although this game can get a little hard, so check it out with the difficulty in mind!

Those are the five games we recommend! Slime Rancher, Lethal Company, Celeste, Killer Frequency, and Rhythm Doctor are all fairly different games, but we enjoyed them! It could be  playing them yourself, watching someone else play them, or even just listening to their soundtracks. Give them a chance, and you might find yourself a new thing.
