Here come the Holidays
The holidays are just around the corner, and people celebrate in many different ways. Some people travel, go to see family, stay home, etc. Here are some of the ways people are spending their vacation. Many of the people who were interviewed said they were going to be traveling for the holidays to places such as the mountains, going to a different state, or even visiting a different country. The mountains as a destination were very popular this year. People are either going for Christmas or just to spend a few days there. Abigail Kalika (‘25) said, “ I am going to stay at my mountain house for a week right after Christmas; it’s so peaceful, and I’m excited to spend New Year’s with my family.” People have also been saying they are staying home, hanging out with family and friends, eating good food, and opening presents. Nothing is more comforting than staying home in your bed and hanging out with friends and family. Nayelli Gonzalez (‘25) is doing just that. “This year we are hosting Christmas at my house, and my family is coming to celebrate with us.” Families have different ways of spending their vacation, which determines the food they might eat, too. A few people were interviewed to talk about what kind of food they eat during the holidays. Isabella Pollock (25’) said, “ I love food during the holidays, I am excited to eat traditional Brazilian-style food and chocolate.” Skye Romandetta (‘24) said, “ I am excited to catch up on sleep and visit my family in New York. I’m excited to have hot chocolate and cookies and eat good Italian food. I’m also thrilled to see the beautiful ambiance of the city.” Khadheeja Adam-Malik (’25) said, “I am very excited to go to Canada and spend time with my cousins and other family who I haven’t seen in a long time.” Some lucky people are traveling out of the country this holiday season, meaning planes and traffic will be a challenge, but it will all be worth it once the destination is reached. All of these are ways people are planning to spend their holiday break. From traveling to staying home and eating food, all of these seem like perfect ways to take a break and relax without the stress of school. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, or another holiday, have a fantastic winter break!
