Thanksgiving specials in TV shows
As we all know, the more the holidays come around, we tend to connect with our families whether that could include family outings to the local market or staying cozy inside to catch up on some of our favorite shows. While Thanksgiving is right around the corner, remembering to appreciate who we love comes naturally. It’s fun to celebrate it while also seeing it in some of your favorite films. Let’s talk about the top episodes in which Thanksgiving was celebrated in film!
Starting with the ‘90s Sitcom, Friends, there are ten episodes for all ten seasons. Although I could name all, I will talk about the #1 episode that people thought was best. The One with All the Thanksgivings is full of flashbacks to all the bad Thanksgiving memories including the day Joey got a turkey stuck on his head. At the end of the episode, Monica puts a turkey on her head, and Chandler lets it slip that he loves her!
Another two shows that share the same letters, GG, Gilmore Girls, and Gossip Girl have good Thanksgiving episodes! In the episode, Blair Waldorf Must Pie of Season 1, Dan invites Serena and her family over for Thanksgiving dinner with his family, which leads to an uncomfortable situation because of the romantic history of Rufus( Serena’s step-dad) and Lily( Serena’s mom). Blair is also feeling down when she finds out her dad isn’t coming home for the holiday. Gilmore Girls, A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving episode, consists of Lorelai and Rory end up having four dinners while also having an unappetizing meal at Mrs. Kims.
Lastly, ending with a comedy that can make every family lighten the mood and laugh during Thanksgiving is Modern Family! Modern Family had seven Thanksgiving episodes. The top one, Three Turkeys, begins with Gloria and Jay planning to go to Mexico but ending up secretly staying home for Thanksgiving to be alone. Phil tries to prove he can take charge of the turkey this year while Claire tries to relax. A lot of different chaos with each family happens in this episode but also a lot of laughs.
Thanksgiving time on the television screen helps remind us that a lot of our families are the same – the holiday can lead to a little bit of arguing, but in the end, we get good food! In the end, all of us can appreciate each other during Thanksgiving.
