Spring Musical: The Preview

The spring musical will soon be upon us! It will be Nine to Five, inspired by the music of Dolly Parton. This musical will be different from the ones the Apex Peak Players have put on in the past; it is “a story of empowerment and people taking charge of their own life,” according to Ms. Levine.

Auditions for it are scheduled to occur November 28th and 29th, giving potential cast members the opportunity to practice and prepare beforehand at pre-audition workshops. They will be on November 20th and the 21st. There, students will learn a few songs from the show and a dance combination that they will perform at the auditions.

Ms. Levine also stated that some of the qualities the auditioners are looking for for this musical are the vocal range for a specific character and your chemistry with the other cast members, which showcases your ability to communicate and collaborate. That and reliability are some major attributes required for being part of the musical. Ultimately, it comes down to the director’s vision for the production and how she is envisioning it coming to life.

Austin Russ is a student hoping to audition for the part of Joe, an office accountant that works alongside the leading ladies. In my interview with him, he reminisces on past plays he’s been a part of, like The Phantom Tollbooth most recently. Austin looks forward to being able to do what he loves most with the people he’s come to recognize as his family.

The first rehearsal will take place December 5th, and further updates about showings will follow. Look forward to seeing the production of Nine to Five put on by your very own Apex Peak Players!
