This year’s homecoming is rumored to be the best one yet. Homecoming is the biggest fall event of the semester. Let’s talk about what happens during this fun-filled week. 

During the week of Homecoming, it’s Spirit Week.  Every day of the week is a new theme for the day. This year, we only have four days of the week since Monday was a Teacher Workday, but nevertheless, it’s still fun. On Tuesday the theme was Jersey Out, where everyone was able to wear their favorite team’s jersey and get decked out in sports fun. Wednesday is Monochromatic Day. Each grade level and the staff were assigned a color to represent who they were. Seniors wore pink, juniors wore blue, sophomores wore red, freshmen wore white, and teachers wore black. Thursday was Character Day, where students and teachers were able to dress up as their favorite character from a book, TV show, movie, etc. Last but most certainly not least was Friday, A.K.A Spirit Day. Everyone wore green, gold, black, white, Apex Cougars merch, or any other Apex-themed outfit. 

Also on Friday was the pep rally. This year’s pep rally is in the gym on Friday and will be split into two groups during the fourth period. The pep rally is where the Homecoming Court gets presented, and fall sports teams are also recognized. The pep rally is to get everyone hyped up and in the spirit of Homecoming. 

Later in the day at 4:30, after school lets out, there is a parade on Salem St. in downtown Apex. Clubs and athletes as well as the band participate in the Homecoming Parade. Anyone is welcome to come and watch at no cost at all. 

The football game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. against the Green Level Gators. Tickets are $10.00 each and will be under Apex High School in the GoFan app. They may sell out soon, so go ahead and purchase them now! This game is one of the biggest games of the year! The theme is the same every year, which is Apex Spirit. The Homecoming King and Queen are announced and celebrated at halftime. 

The dance theme for this year is Vintage Apex. The dance will be held in the gymnasium, and the courtyard will be accessible. Tickets are $11 after tax; you can buy them on the GoFan app or website under Apex High School Cougar Club. There will be snacks and drinks at the indoor concessions stand.
