Welcome Ms. Britton to Apex High School

As we welcome students into the new school year of 2023-2024 with brand new faces, we also welcome brand new teachers and staff members at Apex High School. I am happy to interview one of the new teachers named Ms. Britton who is our new Health Science teacher. Here is some information about her. 

Where are you From ?

“ I am from Georgetown, South Carolina.”

What school/college did you graduate from ?

“ I graduated from The Medical School University of South Carolina.”  

Are you married ?

“No, I am not married.” 

Do you have any kids ? 

“Yes, I do have a kid. I have one son.” 

Do you have any pets ?

“ Yes, I have a Goldendoodle dog.”

What are your hobbies 

“ Shopping, taking trips, and spending time with family and friends.”

Why did you choose your subject area?

“ It chose me! lol… I’m a CDA but I love helping people and making them feel better.”

How much experience do you have in teaching ?

 “ I have ten years of experience.” 

What other jobs did you have before teaching?

“ Retail Manager, private dental offices, and federal prison.” 

What kind of impact do you want to leave for students while teaching ?

“ That no matter what, give it your best and always be willing to LEARN!” 

What are your thoughts about Apex so far?

  “ I love APEX!!! The staff makes you feel like you belong. Everyone is so helpful, and the admin staff listen to your concerns and offer help where needed!! Shout out to Mr. Brown!!”

How does Apex compare to other schools

 “Top tier!! Honestly it’s really scary!” 

What did you do before coming to Apex? 

“ I was a transfer Health Science teacher from another Wake County school.” 

What is your favorite thing about teaching ? 

“ Watching my students become a vital asset to our healthcare community.”

Who is or has been an inspiration to you?

“ My CDA instructor was a true inspiration to me. She gave sound advice and was always there when I needed her most. “ 

What advice would you give to students who want to become a teacher ? 

“ Make sure this is something you really want to do. Have compassion, patience, and understanding.”
