Here at the Peak, we are so happy to have so many new teachers. This article will share more about one of the new History teachers, Mr Thomas. 

What is your name? “My name is Adam Thomas, and this is my 13th year teaching.”

Where are you from? “I am from Pittsboro, North Carolina.”

Where did you go to school? “I went to Apex High School and East Carolina for college.”

Are you married? Do you have any kids/pets? “I am married and have two dogs.” 

What did you do before coming to Apex? “I worked at Roseville High School before coming to Apex High School.” 

Why did you become a teacher? “My dad was a teacher, which was the main inspiration for me. Teachers in high school who made my time enjoyable helped influence my decision too.” 

What other jobs did you have before teaching? “I had worked at Target, Jersey Mikes, and was a lifeguard.”

Why did you choose your subject area? “I always enjoyed history in school, and the history teachers that I had in school made the class more enjoyable and interesting for me.”

What are your thoughts about Apex so far? “Since I went to Apex, coming back is great, and it feels like home since I know a lot of the teachers.”

What’s your favorite movie? Book? “I don’t really have a favorite movie or book; I just enjoy watching football”

What are your hobbies? “Some hobbies I enjoy are cooking, football, and video games.” 

What are your pet peeves? “When people talk while I am talking.”

What were you like as a student? “I definitely talked too much, but I did my work, got good grades, and stayed respectful to my teachers.”

What advice would you give students? “Be respectful to teachers, turn in work on time, and be a decent human being.”

If you weren’t teaching, what would you be doing? “Maybe a lawyer, I am good at arguing.”

Who is or has been an inspiration to you? “Definitely my dad.”

What was your most memorable moment as a teacher? “There have been lots of little moments that have made being a teacher memorable. When a student who doesn’t have motivation or doesn’t enjoy my class warms up to me and finds the motivation for school, it is probably one of the best things to see.”
