All About Mr. Gresch

Among all of the new teachers that joined Apex this year, I had the chance to interview Mr. Gresch, a new math teacher. Here’s everything you need to know about him!

First, some basics about you. Where are you from? What school did you go to and what is your degree?

“So I am from Cleveland, Ohio, and I went to Notre Dame College in Cleveland, Ohio. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a Minor in AYA Education.”

What do you teach? How much experience do you have teaching your subject area?

“I teach Honors Math 3 and Foundations of Math 3 here at Apex. This is my seventh year of teaching as well!”

What are some of your hobbies?

“Some of my hobbies are watching sports, playing adult softball, golfing and playing video games.”

What did you do before coming to Apex?

“Before coming here to AHS, I was a teacher at Wakefield High School for three years, and for three years before that, I was at Lee County High School in Sanford.”

What advice would you give to students?

“Advice that I would give to my students is try on everything. Eventually when you keep trying at everything, success will come your way!”

What was your most memorable moment as a teacher?

“My most memorable moment as a teacher was when I had to break up an altercation while wearing a bacon costume during Halloween, and then I heard students chanting ‘Bacon! Bacon! Bacon!’”

If you weren’t teaching, what would you be doing?

“If I wasn’t teaching, I would probably be in some sort of trade work like an electrician or be an accountant (which I was supposed to be when I went to college).”

What area of math is your favorite to learn? To teach?

“My favorite area of Math is Math 3, which consists of a little bit of everything. More specifically, my favorite unit is the trig unit.”

It was such a pleasure working with Mr. Gresch and getting to know him in his first year at Apex High!
