Sounds Of Summer 2023

There were many concerts this summer—genres ranging from pop to country. Since summer is not over yet, there are still more concerts to come. Music and concerts are important pieces in many people’s lives. Artists go on tour, and teens and even parents run to buy tickets. Some of the popular larger concert venues near Cary/Apex are Coastal Credit Union Music Park, Koka Booth Amphitheater, and PNC Arena.

To start, in early summer/ late spring, Pitbull came to Koka Booth. The previous year Pitbull toured and went to Coastal Credit Union. Seven thousand people attended this concert in May, and twenty thousand attended at Coastal Credit Union. His tickets ranged between $35 for lawn to $115 for VIP; there was also a pit area where people could buy tickets. People danced and dressed up to jam out at the concert.

Another concert that was popular in late spring was the Sabrina Carpenter concert where she performed at the Ritz. Sabrina toured her Emails I Can’t Send album and made a stop in Raleigh. She toured with artist Blu Detiger who opened up for her shows. The lowest price for her tickets was shown to be around $55. “She put on such a good show and I had such a fun time at that concert.” – Charlotte Phelps (‘25)

In recent months other artists came to North Carolina on their tours. Boygenius came to Live Oak Band Pavillion in Wilmington on June 14th. Don Toliver performed at Coastal Credit Union Music Park on July 2nd, 2023. He put on an amazing show in front of around twenty-five thousand people. His tickets started at around $65.

50 Cent came and toured the PNC Music Pavilion on August 16th, 2023. He performed in front of around twenty thousand people. His tickets started at around $55 without checkout fees. “The energy was amazing and everyone was hype, dancing, and just having fun.” -Ainsley Hendrix (‘25)

Louis Tomlinson, as well as 5 Seconds of Summer, came to  Red Hat Amphitheater this summer; Louis Tomlinson’s openers were The Giant Rooks and Andrew Cushin. While Meet Me @ The Altar opened for the 5 Seconds of Summer concert.

Next to perform was Sam Hunt. He performed just last weekend September 9th, 2023 also at Coastal Credit Union Music Park. He is a country singer who recently kicked off his “Summer on the Outskirts Tour” on July 6th.

The rapper Lil Baby came to PNC Music Pavillion recently on the 11th of September for his “It’s Only Us Tour”. He also went to Charlotte’s Spectrum Center on the 12th of September. His openers for the show were GloRilla, GLOSS UP, Rylo Rodriguez, and Hunxho. His tickets came out to be around $85 after fees.

All of these concerts happening within five months gave people the chance to have a blast during their summer break and continue that through the beginning of September. This music season was truly a peak.
