Senior Year Predicament

The start of a new year can be different for everyone. However, for seniors there’s a lot more to consider than a normal year. College applications? Senior events? Graduation? All of it can be a bit overwhelming. The senior class of 2024 has some opinions on the matter.

There can be a lot of misconceptions about the start of senior year. Many believe senior year will be easy and less stressful. However, there seem to be differing opinions between many of the seniors. Lincoln Hogan, a senior here at Apex says, “It feels like junior year all over again”. Lily Blankenship, another senior at Apex expresses, “My classes are easy and fun”. It seems like the difference in difficulty can be a very personal issue. It can be very dependent on the class level you take and how many required classes you’ve taken. The expectation of senior year being easy is very dependent on you as a person.

Senior year also comes with many class events, traditions, and of course graduation. Surprisingly, many students aren’t very excited about many senior events or traditions. However, Lincoln is excited to celebrate the tradition of “leaving”. This leads to the topic of the biggest part of senior year… graduation! Many seniors share mixed feelings about graduation. Some are excited to begin a new chapter in their lives while others  are nervous about college applications and choosing what they want to major in. Senior, Julianna Gatula, says, “I’m excited to get out!” She shares the excitement of many who are excited to begin the next big step in their lives.

Senior year is an exciting time. It’s the final goodbye to high school and the first greeting into adulthood. Good luck to the class of 2024; you all have great things in store for you.
