Apex High School has welcomed a new addition to its teaching staff this year, Mr. Stuelke. In an exclusive interview with Mr. Stuelke, we got to know more about his background, his journey to becoming a teacher, and his thoughts on his new role at Apex High.

Mr. Ty Stuelke is from Cary, North Carolina. He attended North Carolina State University, where he pursued his academic journey.

Before stepping into the world of education, Mr. Stuelke worked as a Business Analyst at Dealer.com, showcasing his analytical skills. But why did he make the switch to teaching?

The decision to become a teacher was greatly influenced by the positive impact teachers had on his own life. Having experienced firsthand the difference educators can make, Mr. Stuelke was motivated to contribute to the world of education and help students in their academic journeys.

When asked about his choice of subject, Mr. Stuelke expressed his passion for mathematics. He believes that math plays a crucial role in various aspects of life.

Since joining Apex High, Mr. Stuelke has had a positive experience. He appreciates the warm and friendly staff at the school, which has made his transition smoother.

Beyond teaching, Mr. Stuelke has a variety of interests. He enjoys playing video games, board games, and even rock climbing. Additionally, he’s a fan of cosplaying, showing his creative side.When asked about his favorite movie, Mr. Stuelke revealed his love for The Lord of the Rings.

When he was asked if he had any pet peeves, he said he dislikes it when students sleep in class or don’t pay attention. 

His advice to students is to embrace study groups and engage with peers. Collaborative learning, according to him, is both useful and engaging. As for his most memorable moments as a teacher, he cherishes those “aha” moments when students grasp a concept he’s explained.

Mr. Stuelke draws inspiration from the teachers in his own high school who genuinely cared about their students’ success. It’s this inspiration that drives him to be the kind of teacher who can positively impact the lives of his students.
