Amber’s Senior Sign Off

Like many other Apex High School students, I had no idea we had a newspaper program. That is until my freshman English teacher recommended me for it. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, my interview with Mrs. McGee went better than expected, and I was excited to join the class. Then to nobody’s surprise, Covid threw a wrench in my plans. My virtual sophomore year kept me at home and out of journalism for a year, which only reinvigorated my excitement for the class upon my return in the fall of 2021.

A new year, a new teacher, and a new class, and I quickly got in the groove of things. The writing, the room, and the people became familiar to me and became my family inside the school. I would never have formed connections with some of my close friends if it had not been for our proximity in Newspaper class, and for that I am thankful. I have had the pleasure of interviewing countless students and staff and writing pieces I am proud to have my name on.

Sharing a little about my future, I will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with the intended major of Advertising/Public Relations. Furthermore, I am a rookie on the Carolina Girls Dance Team, so catch me on the field at Kenan Memorial Stadium or on the court at the Dean Dome! I will continue to cultivate the roots that I planted in this class over the past year and a half in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, remembering the wisdom and advice given to me by Mrs. McGee and Mrs. Doud.

To my favorite class, this is Amber Wilson signing off.
