My journey to Newspaper was slightly different than most. I transferred into this class within the two-week transfer period beginning of the semester. The major pull was one of my best friends who is also in this class told me it would be a good fit, but my passion for the class followed very closely after.
I have never been the most confident person, which is one of the reasons I stayed away from getting super involved in school activities. That and my intense after-school dance schedule always made me shy away; however, I am so happy I got the push to join Newspaper. I have loved every aspect of interviewing, brainstorming, creating banners, and the satisfaction of pressing “post” for an article with my name printed as the author.
From the first article I wrote to now, I feel Newspaper has allowed me to grow in my ability to have confidence in my writing. The busy end of the school year coupled with the club banquets I am attending can be overwhelming, especially when I was asked to give speeches at two of the banquets I am attending. I am so happy that Newspaper has given me the experience and qualifications to confidently write and deliver speeches. Next year, I am attending East Carolina University as an intended nursing major. I am so excited for this next chapter in my life. I plan on trying out for the club dance team and continuing my dance journey throughout college. I am so excited to start college; however, I am definitely a little nervous about such a big change. While I will miss Legacy and all the memories made in this third-period class, I am so excited to confidently step out into the world and showcase all that I am capable of doing.
